Red Hat Linux Certification Exam Preparation

Red Hat Linux 9 Certification (RHCE) Exam

Since its inception in January 1999, the RHCE Exam has been delivered to thousands of persons around the world. Currently Red Hat offers 2 levels of certifications for professionals working on Red Hat Systems, namely Red Hat Certified Engineer i.e. RHCE and Red Hat Certified Technician i.e. RHCT. RHCE is the higher level of certification as compare to RHCT and is also among the top 3 fastest growing certifications as predicted by CertMag.com.

RHCE Preparation

One important part of Red Hat Linux certification is a performance based test, a 2.5 hours lab test in which you are asked to do some configuration and debugging tasks on live equipments in a networked training lab to make the system perform in a specified way. According to Red Hat, out of those who do not pass, over 75% score high (85 or higher) in the multiple choice component, proving that one can be very successful at multiple choice questions yet still have trouble actually executing essential systems administration tasks for server setup and/or debugging and troubleshooting.

Therefore, just attaining the theoretical knowledge may not be sufficient for clearing this exam. You should have experience of at least 1 year performing troubleshooting and configuration related activities before you appear for this exam.

Red Hat also offers various levels of courses on the Red Hat Linux system. If you are new to Linux Operating System, you should take basic level courses. After that get some experience working on Red Hat Systems and then appear for the certification exam. If you are experienced with Linux system but do not feel comfortable with the exam you have an option of taking Red Hat rapid track 4 days course and then go for the certification exam.
