First off if you are new to the Cisco Certification arena or want to learn more read on, otherwise select the exam you are studying for above under the main menu to access our free practice tests, exam info, study guides, study notes, and forums for that exam.
Cisco™ Certification is one of those prized possessions in the internetworking industry, raising in popularity daily, they even offer Cisco training in high schools now.
The way the Cisco™ Certification works depends on what you want to do, but the average Cisco™ Cert chaser starts at getting the CCNA®, then the CCNP® then the top of the food chain in networking certifications the CCIE®, the Cert of Certs, top of it all, I once heard it takes an average of 6 years of study and or working in the field to truly be ready for that one, I don't believe there is a such thing as a paper CCIE® due to the extensiveness of the tests.
For the CCNA you only need to take one test, the 640-607, but I would recommend to actually get the CompTIA Network+ before the CCNA.
And for the CCDA you only need to take one test, the 640-441 DCN, but I would recommend the CCNA before the CCDA.
After your CCNA and or CCDA you can move on to your CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or CCDP (Cisco Certified Design Professional). The CCNP consists of 4 exams, the 640-603 BSCN, the 640-504 BCMSN, the 640-505 BCRAN, and the 640-506 CIT
The CCDP is close to the same as the CCNP, there is just one other test, the 640-025 CID (Cisco Internetwork Design) and you don't have to take the 640-506 CIT.
On another note, if you can handle really big exams, or if you already know all the material, you can take the 640-509 Foundations exam in place of the 640-603 BSCN, the 640-504 BCMSN, the 640-505 BCRAN exams for both the CCNP and the CCDP.
After you complete your CCNA or CCDA and CCNP or CCDP you can then move onto the monster of them all, the CCIE, click here to read more on the CCIE.
