*TARA'S FIFTY OUT OF FIFTY*

Question:-- Which IP address range is allowable given an IP address of 172.37.2.56 and 28-bits of subnetting?

A. 172.37.2.48 to 172.37.2.63
B. 172.37.2.48 to 172.37.2.62
C. 172.37.2.49 to 172.37.2.62
D. 172.37.2.49 to 172.37.2.63
E. 172.37.2.55 to 172.37.2.126

Please note: Its class B address.28 bits of subnetting?,means we used 4 bits (32-28) for host. 2^4 = 16 and the subnets will start as 16,32,48,64 and so on..Given Ip .56 is falls btw .48 & .63.but .48 is subnet address, and .63 is the broadcast address for the .48 subnet. Hence we will choose the range .49 -.62
Now those who do not have the in depth subnetting knowledge, they can derive the answer from this simple formula let say host = 16 = x If you divide the last octet numbers by this x and get the reminder = 0, then it will be a subnet,if you get a reminder = (x-1), then it will be a broadcast. So both can not be used, any reminder btw 1 and (x-2) is useable, because they are Useable Host.

DO YOU REALY NEED MY HELP?

Dear Mike,
I do not think you need my help? 1st you didn't follow the basic norms of this forum,2nd Never read my postings properly,3rd though you posted 7 posting including one of mine as a quote under my topic, but seeking the help through main board? please See where you went wrong?. Lastly your e-mail address says it all"cisco_certified".
Be informed that Cisco never re-certify a person before 3yrs, and if Cisco knows that you are misusing Cisco's trade mark most probably you will never be certified by Cisco in your whole life?
Authenticated?
Certifire
