If asked that you wish to OBSERVER interfaces going up or down is the answer show spantree summary or show span ?

To me show span will show you mirrored port data and not if a port is in blocking listen or learn state ?

sbeard,
Use the show span command to display information about the current SPAN
This info was found at http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/sw5_1/comdref/sh_sp_te.htm#xtocid124251
And use the show spantree summary command to display a summary of spanning-tree information.
configuration:http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat6000/sw5_1/comdref/sh_sp_te.htm#18158
I hope this answers your questions.
Thanks,
Dave Luper II

You have to be aware WHAT device are you managing.
If you manage a SWITCH
"show span" - will give you information about switch port analyzer
"show spantree" - will bring you expected information about Spanning Tree.
If you are in a ROUTER
"show span" is short form of "show spanning-tree" and will give you information about Spanning Tree

Have fun
