Hi Tara,
I was wondering in addition to Cisco's first year & second year CCNA Companion guide if you would be able to recommend additional study guides or would these two books along with your forum be enough preparation to pass the CCNA? Would other study guides be beneficial in reviewing your 50 out of 50 questions? Are your questions coming from these books? If you think Cisco's first year & second year CCNA Companion guide are worth having and will assist in my studies I will invest in them.
thank you,
Missy

Dear Missy,
Thank you for your well-minded quest for CCNA textbook. Cisco's CCNA 1st & 2nd year Companion guide comes as handy guide to the Cisco academy students for their day to day reference for 1st 4 semester. For next 4 semesters, ie.semester5-8 have individual book under CCNP curriculum.
I do not advise you to buy any thing which you feel uncomfortable for, rather you can go to any National or Public library to borrow one of this books including the CD-ROM and copy the cd to your hard disc before you return them, this cd includes the entire book the (e-book) & every thing you need for hands on practice.
The Books Are:
1. Cisco First year Companion Guide (Look For 3rd edition) By Cisco press
2. Cisco Second year Companion Guide (Look For 3rd edition) By Cisco press
3. Sybex CCNA Study guide (Deluxe edition). By Sybex
4. All in one CCNA study guide Ver2.0 By McGraw Hills or Osborn
5. A specific CCNA book written By Indian Mr.P.K.bhardwaj, which I doubt you, can get in your hand?
It is not the book you buy or author you read it is how much you can grasp or under-stand from this book which is important.
Hope I am answered you query with my little knowledge.
Inquest!
Love

Hi All,
I havent got much technical experience but know general IT terminology as I work for an IT helpdesk and have a IT degree(non technical) and am keen to start studying towards CCNA.
I have spent last couple of weekends on the web trying to locate some good sites that really break the technical knowledge down for a beginner and no luck - i was very surprised !
I have joined a few forums so hopefully will get positive responses.
I also know that sharing knowledge is vital - its a good motivator and things can get cleared up quickly.
I have a 5 day(1st - 5th July) tutor led CCNA course next week.
I want to aim for passing the exam by the end of July.
Please send me as much info as you can regarding .
I would like to know how you think i should proceed from here?
I think I need to get a router sim - any ideas?
What exam prep are you using - questions paper?
How are you planning your own study?
Any one got a CCNA memory sheet?
Ant good study guides on net?
How do you study daily?
Regards
Sunny
PS Tara thankyou for username /passord

A. Symmetric switching allows connection between ports of unlike bandwidth and does not require memory buffering.
B. Memory buffering is used to prevent a bottleneck when ports of different bandwidth are connected on a symmetric switch.
C. The latency can be reduced if the switch utilizes the store and forward method of switching. Store and forward is better for error detection.
