*TARA'S FIFTY OUT OF FIFTY*
question:-- The IP address 172.20.7.160 and its subnet mask is 255.255.255.192, What is the last available host address for this IP subnet?
A. 172.20.7.255
B. 172.20.7.197
C. 172.20.7.190
D. 172.20.7.129
E. 172.20.255.255
Please Note: Given subnet mask Is 26bit, So 6bit left for host in each subnet.2^6 = 64,hence subnet starts at .64,.128,.192 and so on...as we see the Given IP falls in .128 subnet range .128 - .191 as we can not use the address .191 because it's the broadcast address of the .128 subnet, the last available host is .190

Hi all,
Firstly tara thankyou for access to your folders. This has really motivated me . You are great! I have just bought Todds CCNA 607 book and will be browsing through it tonight. It certainly looked more reader friendly than the cisco press books .
I have one problem i am looking to get my hands on a good FREE router sim - any ideas?
Has anyone got one they can send?

Dear Sunny,
Great! looking for ideas all around, when every thing is available in your back yard? I mean the book, just you bought. Open the CD ROM from the book and have a look? sybex have its own router sim practice which is good enough for your exam preparation.Even they have a link in the CD ROM which can take you to their website for Live Exam practice. If I am not wrong.Try it out before looking for farther ideas.

Hi Tara,
I've read quite a few of your posts on here and its quite obvious your a reliable source of assistance in the CCNA area.
I was wondering if yourself or any of your fans here have any decent literature on subnetting.
I got the Todd Lammle book for the CCNA, but I have noticed one or two errors and just how things are described isnt quite clear cut enough.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards
Colio

Updated my profile. Thanks you in advance and hope the help can come soon!
By the way, I am wondering the answer to one of previous questions, can somebody share some of his/her light with me:
Question:
If windows size is changed from 3000 to 4000 during the data transfer stage of a TCP session, what can a sending host do?
A. Transmit 3000 bytes before waiting for an acknowledgement.
B. Transmit 4000 packets before waiting for an acknowledgement.
C. Transmit 4000 bytes before waiting for an acknowledgement.
D. Transmit 4000 segments before waiting for an acknowledgement.
E. Transmit 3000 frames before waiting for an acknowledgement.
F. Transmit 3000 packets before waiting for an acknowledgement.
I looked for the answer at Cisco Web site, and looks like the answer is B.
The link is http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/105/carcounters.html (search for sliding window).
Well, then, in Todd Lammle's book, when he talk about windowing, he means segment (page 13-15), so the answer could be D.
The answer of this site is C.
Emmm, now I am confused...???
