The best study material that I can think of is the "Cisco Networking Academy" which is an online course written by the same guys that wrote the CCNA exam. I took this class in a Community College and it wasn't expensive at all. All of the hands on practice you need is given in those classes, by actually setting up a small WAN with routers and switches. I already finished the academy and I'm just doing some practice tests that I'm finding on line before I take the test. And I must say that all of the questions I am finding in these tests are familiar to me. If you can find out with your local community college or a vocational school to see if they are offering the Cisco Academy. Good luck to everyone.

No I am not in the UK. Find out with a vocational school, computer school, even in some High Schools is being offered. If you can't take this classes then I recommend that you buy 2 books by Cisco Press which is the same as the online course. If you want the ISBN numbers then e-mail me at
Good Luck

I have studied 2 Cisco press book, one called Cisco CCNA by Wendell Odom and the other ICND (Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices) by Steve McQuerry. I found the ICND Book is the best, I have never worked with routers, until I decided to achieve this certification for changing my career path from systems engineering to networking. Anyhow in my work place I have networking freaks who told me is no good reading CCNA coz it is very heavy, but I didn't listen and I did finished it, it was really heavy, and a lot of stuff which you don't need to know for this exam. however I failed in my first exam.
But then I started reading the ICND and found that's all I need to know for exam and very easy to understand. Considering that I have used my own Cisco router at home as well as a Cisco lab which was available to use at work. They helped me a lot especially learning about command lines. I also studied more than 2000 exam questions online. you can find them on my website www.cisco.50g.com
Btw I have passed the CCNA exam a month ago
and here.
I wish you all best of luck if you study
hard you will pass it too.
