I have a 2514 router at my desk here at work. I have a Windows NT box connected to it. I tried all possible break sequences and nothing seems to work. when the router boots up it looks for the following:
Loading network-confg .
˙ [timed out]
Loading cisconet.cfg ... [timed out]
Loading ccie-confg ... [timed out]
Loading ccie.cfg ... [timed out]
The router will continue to look for this connections endlessly. How do I get into this router to reprogram? I've used hyperterminal provided by Windows NT and I know the limitations on that so I have already tried the setting of the baud rate to 1200 blah..blah..blah stuff.
Does anyone out there have a a better idea? I would greatly appreciate your advice. In addition I have already tried to use a freeware terminal emulation program as well. but no dice on the router break.
please advise.

hey,
your router first load the system image
then load the configration file
your router is loading configuration file from the tftp server
you must have the tftp server connected with your router

hey,
your router first load the system image
then load the configration file
your router is loading configuration file from the tftp server
you must have the tftp server connected with your router
there is no tftp server to connect this router to. at one time it was used with a tftp server it is not anymore. I do not believe that you need to connect a tftp server to this router in order to perform a break sequence. a break sequence should work as long as you have a console connection to the router.

you must make sure you ar using a console cable for connection to the router
you must have a console connection in order to see the IOS load. I would not be trying to perform a break sequence if I did not have a console cable connection to the router. unfortunately, your advice is not applicable for this situation.

If your router does not find a valid system image, or if its configuration file is corrupted at startup, and the configuration register
is set to enter ROM monitor mode, the system might enter memory ROM monitor mode. From this mode, you can manually
load a system image from Flash memory, from a network server file, or from ROM.
You can force the router to stop booting and enter ROM monitor mode by pressing the Break key during the first 60 seconds
of startup.

If your router does not find a valid system image, or if its configuration file is corrupted at startup, and the configuration register
is set to enter ROM monitor mode, the system might enter memory ROM monitor mode. From this mode, you can manually
load a system image from Flash memory, from a network server file, or from ROM.
