farooq_riaz	Hi Does anyone know how to upgrade the IOS of one router from another router. Can this be done by a Serial connection or is an Ethernet connection needed? Any link or info would be great. Regards Farooq
123456	In my opinion, without using any books, if you have the two routers connected in a valid network, it should work. Since you can make this network both using Serial or Ethernet ports, I think that the network can be done. Step 2: since it seems that a router can be both a TFTP client and server (I have no idea yet how to make it a TFTP server) it seems that you have now the place to store the IOS. However, how do you place the required IOS file on this TFTP server/ router without a host (PC)? I do not know. Step 3: if you succeeded to load the IOS file on the server (TFTP server router) you can upgrade by using “copy tftp flash” command. I hope I’ve gave good indications, but I’ll be also interested to find out if I was wrong!
LarryB	Ok i have done this. Here is what you need to do step 1: download a tftp server software (download.com) step 2: setup an ethernet connection between the computer running the tftp server and the router. Send the ios image to the tftp server step 3: change the ethernet to computer to router with old or no IOS. step 4: copy tftp flash step 5: you have to type in the ios image name all the time ( i dont remeber the exact syntex, its been a while, sorry) hope this helps
