jwheeler I was browsing around amazon.com looking for cisco press material for the CCNP. I have found 2 boxed sets. One is the CCNP Certification library, and the other is the CCNP Certification Library (2nd edition). It gets confusing because the 2nd edition has an earlier publication date. It was published in November of 2000, whereas the other was published February 2001.
I guess my question here is, which is the most current? Is it the one authored by Diane Teare, et al, or is the one authored by claire Gough, et al? Or are they both current? I'm sitting here pulling my hair out trying to figure which one I should buy. Or, should I just get both of them and be done with it?

dumfart I don't know the amswer to the question that you asked but I will tell you not to buy from Amazon because their prices are too high. Try http://www.bookpool.com you will be glad that you did.

dumfart Sorry about the multiple posts, this piece of crap kept telling me that my post didn't work. I can't see you needing to buy both sets of books, All I used was the Cisco Press course books (Building Scalable Cisco Networks, etc); I found they were enough for me. I didn't bother with the Cisco Press Exam Certification Guide Series although I'm sure they are a good supplement to the course books. You might have better luck with your questions over at http://www.examnotes.net/forums/index.php

GreatScot! Jwheeler, I was confused about this very thing myself a while back. I'm fairly sure that it is like this...the Daine Teare set is the "CCNP Preparation Library" and the Claire Gough set is the "CCNP Certification Library." It sounds like the Gough set is more of a readiness review and isn't as focused on teaching the material from scratch but rather for folks who have a good deal of the knowledge. The Teare set seems to be more for someone who is learning it from scratch. If you check our www.ciscopress.com their site confirms this. I think you can pretty much go either way but if you are pretty much getting into these topics from scratch go with the Prep library by Teare. That is the path I've taken. Best of Luck!
